Introducing Learning Plans: A New Way to Engage the Word
We've all felt the friction.
Maybe you started a "Read the Bible in a Year" plan with enthusiasm, only to miss a few days and feel the crushing weight of "falling behind." Or perhaps you are just trying to explore the Bible on your own, but every time you open it, you feel paralyzed—unsure where to start, overwhelmed by the complexity, or simply feeling like you're just going through the motions.
Today, we are changing that dynamic with the launch of Learning Plans (accessible via the "Explore" button in the "New Learning" screen).
The Problem: The "Checkbox" Mentality
Current Bible plans often stipulate exactly which passage must be read on which specific day. While well-intentioned, this structure often leads to:
1. Fatigue: Rushing through verses just to say you did it.
2. Guilt: Feeling like a failure when you "fall behind."
3. Passive Reading: Scanning words without truly digesting them.
4. Fragmentation: Reading isolated verses ("verse of the day") without understanding what is actually happening in the text.
We believe going into the Word should be intentional and deliberate—never a chore.
Enter Learning Plans
We have reimagined Bible engagement to be Session-Based rather than Schedule-Based. We are launching this with our new Bible Book Plans.

How It Works
1. You Set the Pace
There are no "overdue" notifications. Each time you choose to enter the plan, a new Session begins.
2. Intelligent Action Menu
As you read, you aren't just scrolling. We've introduced an intelligent action menu that allows you to:

3. Checkpoints & Learnings
Because the Word of God is "alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12), we believe every session should result in a takeaway, no matter how big or small.
Why We Designed It This Way: Context is Key
You might notice that we are launching strictly with Bible Book Plans first. This is intentional.
In the digital age, it is easy to treat the Bible like a jar of fortune cookies—grabbing random verses that make us feel good while ignoring the verses around them. But to truly know God, we need to hear Him out fully.
We prioritized Book Plans because:
A Note on AI & Theology
With the introduction of the "Ask Question" feature, we want to be transparent about our roadmap and philosophy.
We recognize that using AI in a spiritual context is very new territory. However, we believe it is a powerful piece of technology that, when approached with wisdom, can be engineered for His glory—helping to unlock understanding and accessibility.
That said, we want to be clear: both the learning flows and the intelligence behind Pastures' Learning Assistant are currently in their infant stages.
Currently, the Assistant is engineered to provide concise, biblically-grounded answers that respect the immediate context of the passage. It is designed to help explain the author's flow of thought and democratize access to biblical knowledge.
