A Personal Feed for Life’s Ultramarathon

Most apps open by showing you what you have not done yet.

Another article. Another plan. Another habit to maintain.

Even good content can feel like a burden when there is always more of it. You open an app hoping for clarity and meet another list of things to consume.

We wanted the Pastures home screen to feel different.

When you open Pastures, you do not see an endless catalogue. You see your own life.

The idea came from Strava

Strava turns individual miles into a larger story. A morning run, an evening ride, or a long walk becomes a quiet reminder:

I went there. I covered that distance. I showed up.

The Christian life is not a sprint either. It is closer to an ultramarathon: long, uneven, and lived one faithful step at a time.

Its most important moments, however, are rarely visible from the outside:

Small on their own, these moments begin to tell the story of a life being formed.

A feed without an audience

Most feeds show us what other people are doing, thinking, buying, or becoming. Even when we do not mean to compare ourselves, it is difficult not to.

The Pastures timeline is private. There are no followers waiting for an update and no pressure to make your spiritual life look impressive.

It simply gathers your journal entries, prayers, Bible and sermon learnings, reading sessions, and reflections into one chronological stream.

It is a feed of your own walk with God—and you are not the audience or the performer. You are simply paying attention.

Remembrance before guilt

Spiritual apps can carry a strange sense of guilt. You remember the reading plan you fell behind on or how long it has been since you journaled. You feel as though you should have prayed more, read more, or been more consistent.

Pastures is not meant to greet you that way. The timeline begins with what is already there.

Perhaps you prayed yesterday. Perhaps you read one chapter of Romans. Perhaps you wrote down a single sentence that mattered to you.

The timeline brings those moments back—not as proof that you have done enough, but as reminders that your life with God is already unfolding.

Making it possible to return

We record meaningful things and rarely return to them. Sermon notes disappear into a notes app. Prayers are forgotten once the immediate situation passes. Journal entries become buried beneath newer ones.

But remembering is an important part of the Christian life. Throughout Scripture, God’s people are called to remember His works, His faithfulness, His provision, and His promises.

Recording is not only about preserving information. It is about making it possible to return.

When something reappears in your timeline, it becomes an invitation to notice:

Growth can be difficult to see while it is happening. A timeline gives those scattered moments somewhere to meet.

The small miles matter

Not every run on Strava is a personal best. Some are slow. Some are short. Some happen when simply getting outside is an achievement.

The same is true of the Christian life.

Not every journal entry contains a breakthrough. Not every prayer feels profound. Not every Bible reading leaves you with a clear insight.

Faithfulness is often quieter: returning, reading a few verses, writing one honest paragraph, or bringing the same concern to God again.

These are the small miles of a much longer journey. Over time, the timeline becomes more than app activity. It becomes a record of attention: the prayers you carried, the truth you returned to, and the places where God met you in ordinary life.

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.” — Psalm 77:11

We do not want Pastures to open by saying, “Here is everything you still need to do.”

We want it to say something gentler:

Here is where you have been. Here is some of what God has already been doing. And whenever you are ready, you can take the next step.
