Pastures

Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 Sep 2026

Effective date: 16 Sep 2026

The short version

We want these terms to be honest and readable, so here's the plain-language summary. The full terms below are what legally applies.

  • Pastures is a journaling, Bible-reading, and reflection app to help you grow in your faith. It is not a substitute for professional counseling, medical or mental-health care, or pastoral guidance.
  • Your private journal entries, prayers, and reflections belong to you. We store them securely and we do not sell them.
  • Some features use AI. AI responses can be wrong or incomplete and are not professional or spiritual advice. Please use your own discernment.
  • We take data security seriously and use trusted, industry-standard providers, but no online service can promise perfect security.
  • If you use community features, be kind and follow the rules: we can remove content and accounts that break them if reported.
  • The app is provided "as is," and our liability to you is limited, as explained below.
  • You can stop using Pastures and delete your account at any time.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Pastures (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Pastures Labs, a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore, and reachable at support@pastures.app.

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you ("you" or "user") and us, governing your access to and use of the Pastures mobile application, our website at pastures.app, and all related features and services (together, the "Service").

By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the Service and may delete your account.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 9 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.

4. Your account

Some features require an account. You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate registration information;
  • maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials (including any Apple, Google, or other sign-in you use); and
  • all activity that occurs under your account.

Please notify us at support@pastures.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account that results from your failure to keep your credentials secure.

5. The Service and how it may change

Pastures provides tools for journaling, Bible reading and reading plans, spiritual reflection, prayer, learning notes, personalized prompts and reminders, and (where enabled) community features. We are continually improving the Service, and we may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. We may also set limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for modifying or discontinuing any part of the Service.

6. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Pastures offers an optional paid subscription ("Pastures Premium") that unlocks additional features.

  • Billing through the app stores. Subscriptions are sold and processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are subject to their respective terms and payment policies. We do not collect or store your payment card details; billing is handled by Apple or Google (and managed on our side through our subscription provider, RevenueCat).
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price for the applicable period (for example, monthly) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.
  • Prices and changes. Prices (for example, [$2.98 SGD] per month) are shown in the App and may change. We will give reasonable notice of price changes, which will not affect your current paid period.
  • Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law. Because billing is handled by Apple or Google, refund requests are subject to their policies and must usually be made through them.
  • Free trials / promotions. If we offer a free trial or promotional offer, unused portions are forfeited when you purchase a subscription, and any specific terms of the offer apply.

For subscriptions purchased through Apple, Apple's standard end-user license agreement (the "Licensed Application End User License Agreement") also applies to your use of the App as licensed through the App Store, to the extent required by Apple.

7. Your content

"Your Content" means the journal entries, reflections, prayers, notes, learnings, responses to prompts, images, audio recordings, and any other material you create, upload, or store in the Service.

  • You own Your Content. We do not claim ownership of it. As between you and us, Your Content is yours.
  • License to operate the Service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, back up, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely as necessary to provide, secure, and improve the Service for you: for example, to save your entries, to generate AI categorization or search results for you, and to sync your data across your devices. This license exists only to run the Service and ends when Your Content is deleted, subject to standard backup retention described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use your private journal entries or prayers to advertise to you.
  • Community content. If you choose to share content through any community or social feature, you additionally grant us and other users the rights necessary to display that shared content within those features (i.e. to those you allow access to). Content you make public is no longer private, please only share what you are comfortable sharing.
  • Your responsibility. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right.

8. Acceptable use and community rules

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • break any law or infringe anyone's rights (including intellectual property or privacy rights);
  • upload or share content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence or self-harm;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • harass, bully, spam, or harm other users through any community feature;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems;
  • reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as permitted by law;
  • introduce malware or interfere with the Service's operation, security, or infrastructure; or
  • use the Service or any AI feature to generate content that violates these rules.

Enforcement. We may (but are not obligated to) review, moderate, remove, or restrict content, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe create risk or legal exposure, with or without notice. Community moderation (including flagging and review of shared content) works as described in the App.

9. AI features and important disclaimers

Pastures uses artificial intelligence to power features such as categorization, transcription, semantic search, personalized prompts, and reflection assistance.

  • AI can be wrong. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate, and may not reflect sound theology, doctrine, or fact. You should use your own judgment and discernment and verify anything important.
  • Not professional advice. AI outputs and the Service as a whole are not a substitute for, and do not constitute, professional counseling, medical advice, mental-health treatment, legal or financial advice, or pastoral or spiritual direction. If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services immediately.
  • Spiritual content. Bible text, devotional material, and faith-related content are provided for personal reflection and study. Interpretations and reflections (whether generated by AI or provided in the App) are not authoritative and are not offered as the official teaching of any church or denomination.
  • You are responsible for your decisions. Any action you take based on the Service or its AI features is your own responsibility.

10. Data security

Protecting your data is a priority for us, and we know it may be your top concern too.

  • Encryption. Data transmitted between the App and our servers is protected in transit using industry-standard encryption (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Trusted infrastructure providers. We build on established, industry-standard third-party providers that maintain their own security and compliance programs, including [Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform] for authentication, database, and storage; and reputable providers for AI processing (such as our AI and vector-search providers) and subscription management. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and data-protection commitments.
  • Access controls. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures, such as access controls and authenticated, permissioned access to your data, designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. The Pastures team will never routinely access or review your journal entries, prayers, reflections, or other user-created content. That content is processed automatically only as needed to provide the features you choose to use.
  • Your role. Security is shared. Please protect your device and login credentials, keep the App updated, and avoid sharing your account.
  • No guarantee of absolute security. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot and do not guarantee absolute security. You provide and store content through the Service at your own risk. In the event of a data incident, we will act in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

Please see our Privacy Policy for full detail on what we collect, how we use it, our subprocessors, data retention, and your rights.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, logos, text, graphics, and other materials we provide (excluding Your Content and third-party content), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted.

Bible translations remain the property of those copyright holders.

12. Third-party services and links

The Service integrates with and links to third-party services (for example, the Apple App Store, Google Play, sign-in providers, and infrastructure and AI providers). We do not control those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, and including a link or integration does not mean we endorse it.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of viruses, that any content or AI output will be accurate or reliable, or that data loss will not occur. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We (and our owners, employees, contractors, and providers) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including any reliance on AI output or any loss or corruption of Your Content, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the total amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as, in some jurisdictions, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

15. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) Your Content; (b) your use or misuse of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the App. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service, other users, or us, or to comply with the law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content licenses granted to operate the Service, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive. Deletion of Your Content is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to standard backup and legal-retention periods.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any appropriate jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live, and nothing here removes those rights.

18. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Apple/Google app-store terms. Where you obtain the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the applicable store's terms also apply, and those stores are not responsible for the App or these Terms.
