Come and Graze: Our First Pastures Community Gathering
An evening of fellowship, discovery, and gratitude, with a renewed hope for how Pastures can serve our daily walk with Jesus.
An evening of fellowship, discovery, and gratitude, with a renewed hope for how Pastures can serve our daily walk with Jesus.
My heart is full after our first Come and Graze, the first open Pastures community event.
Thank You, Lord, for bringing us together. For the people who came, the conversations we shared, and the opportunity to gather around something that began with a simple desire: to build something for Jesus.
There is something special about seeing an app you have spent so much time building become part of a room full of conversations. People exploring it for themselves, discussing their habits, asking questions, and considering how it might fit into their walk with God.
I’m grateful to everyone who came and gave their time and attention to the evening.

Making room to explore together
Throughout the evening, we moved through different parts of Pastures, with space to try things out individually, reflect, and discuss with one another.
We explored a passage in the Bible reader, including the invitation to choose a verse and try Ruminate. We spent time journaling about our day and exploring Journeys. We tried recording learnings and sermon notes, logging prayers and readings, and discovering tools such as Still Waters and Daily Grow Sessions.
There was also room to explore Fellow Sheep and Groups, and to think about how we stay connected and encourage one another throughout the week.
Alongside these activities were questions about our own lives. How do we usually read the Bible? Do we journal, and why? What happens to our sermon notes after Sunday? How do we keep supporting one another between gatherings?
These are the everyday practices Pastures was built to support. Having time to explore them together helped bring the purpose of the app into focus.
The heart behind Pastures
I also had the opportunity to share the story behind Pastures and the hope that continues to shape it.
We live in a distracting digital age. Our phones are always within reach, and so much competes for our attention. Amid busyness, tiredness, and forgetfulness, it can be difficult to carry what we read in Scripture or hear on Sunday into the rest of our week.
My hope is for Pastures to provide practical support for that daily walk.
A place to return to Scripture. To record what we are learning. To remember the people we are praying for. To revisit earlier reflections and notice God’s faithfulness. To make room for quiet, and to encourage one another along the way.
In the presentation, I described this as “daily formation infrastructure.” It sounds a little technical, but the idea is simple: dependable tools that support the repeated, ordinary practices of life with God.
And underneath all of this is grace. Our growth rests in the Lord. The purpose of these tools is to help us make room to attend to Him and respond to His Word.
Something I’m taking away
As the founder, one of my biggest takeaways was that building the product and helping people understand it are both important parts of the work.
Pastures has grown into a substantial app, with many connected tools. But knowing those tools exist, finding them, and understanding how they might help in everyday life are different things.
I left the evening encouraged by what has been built, and aware that I need to communicate it more clearly.
There is still so much potential for people to discover and benefit from what is already there. A feature becomes useful when someone can connect it to a real need: remembering to pray for a friend, returning to a learning from church, or protecting a few quiet minutes with the Lord.
That gives me a clearer responsibility moving forward: to keep improving Pastures, and to help people find their way into it through clearer explanations, practical examples, and opportunities to explore together.
Come and Graze reminded me how valuable that personal introduction can be.
An invitation to share
If Pastures has helped you, and you already know your way around it, I would love for you to share it with someone you care about.
You could show a friend how you use it to journal. Help someone save and revisit their sermon notes. Explore a Bible passage together, or show a loved one a tool that has supported your prayer life.
A personal example can make something unfamiliar feel approachable. You don’t need to explain the whole app. Sometimes, sharing one thing that has helped you is enough to give someone a place to begin.
My hope is that Pastures can become a trusted and enduring part of the digital tools available to Christians, serving believers across different churches, seasons of life, and places.
I want to build it with the care and quality that this purpose deserves, so that it can be useful in the ordinary days when we are learning to follow Jesus.
For Jesus
The hope that started Pastures remains the hope today: that it would help people grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.
I want that purpose to shape how I build, communicate, and make decisions about its future. I pray that whatever comes of Pastures would serve His people and bring Him glory.
Thank you again to everyone who joined our first Come and Graze. Thank you for exploring, discussing, listening, and sharing the evening.
And thank You, Lord, for the opportunity to do this work and for the people You have brought alongside it.
May Pastures help us remember You in the middle of our days, return to Your Word, and walk faithfully with You.
All glory to Jesus.
